An alternative album cover proposal, developed during the graphic design phase of Begging. Ultimately, it was set aside in favor of a more minimalist and universal approach, yet this concept still holds a special place in my heart 🫶.
Semantically, the symbolist iconography takes the band’s name quite literally , while the use of collage draws on the rebellious and irreverent imagery often associated with the technique. In the background, the calligraphic frame evokes illuminated manuscripts, and the textured details of torn paper echo the cracks on the ceiling of a painted chapel, underscoring the essentialist and moralistic vision of the illustration.
The band’s name, unreadable on the cover itself, becomes visible when physical discs are arranged side by side at the merch stand, where they are sold at the band's concerts. This not only enhances the visual merchandising of the stand but also plays again with the name "ciphered" by allowing each person to leave with their own "piece of the puzzle," directly taken from the mosaic, encoding the hidden message with each sale. Thus, the object transforms into a collective artwork, making each fan a "guardian of the secret."
